Euchromatin
Lightly packed form of chromatin, highly enriched in genes, and usually under active transcription
Heterochromatin
Tightly packed form of DNA that can be constitutive or facultative; generally transcriptionally silent
Telomere-to-Telomere Project
a project creating the first complete sequence of the human genome, including (virtually) all the repeat sequences and heterochromatin
Repeat Sequence
a section of sequence consisting of multiple copies throughout the genome
Gene
a series of nucleotides that can be transcribed into a functional RNA
Gene
a basic unit of heredity
Intron
any nucleotide sequence that is transcribed to pre-mRNA but not expressed in the final RNA product, having been removed by splicing
Exon
any part of a gene forming part of the final RNA, after splicing has occurred
